Before a batch goes into production, operators need to know that the laser process delivers the expected result. Usually this means taking the first panel off the machine and examining it at a separate inspection station. The same applies when a process is being set up: each parameter change has to be checked, and every trip to an external microscope slows the work down.
With the integrated microscope, this inspection step moves into the machine. On the first panel of a batch, operators can examine the first drilled holes in place, without removing the panel or losing its alignment.
The microscope also helps during rough process adjustments. Operators can process test structures, check them right away and adapt key parameters such as pulse energy, number of pulses or focus position before fine-tuning the process further. This makes the initial setup faster and reduces the number of test runs.
The result is shorter setup times, less material loss at batch start, and more confidence in every job before it moves into volume production.
