High-resolution CCD cameras

Over the last years, the fiducials to be recognized have become smaller and smaller. A new high-res camera has been developed to meet this requirement.

Since 2023 the camera is released and now our machine is able to recognize holes / circles down to a diameter of 100 microns. The older camera has a limit value of 400 microns. Care was taken to ensure that, despite the higher resolution, the field of view is still the same (apporx. 10x10 mm). Also possible is an easy upgrade from  low-res to high-res digital camera (Plug, Calibrate & Produce).
The high-res option is available for both S50 and S80 machines.

The picture besides shows the comparison of high-res vs. low-res camera with an extremly enlarged image section. In the high-res picture a lot more details are visible. This is further emphasized by the detailed enlargement. These details are absolutely essential for the precise measurement of very small fiducials resp. structures in general.

One application for such small diameters is the recognition of plated through holes (PTH) for backdrilling. Current products typically have 0.2 mm through holes what leads to diameters of approx. 0.15 mm after plating. Each single recognized hole then will be compensated individually, the so called Drill in Center function.
